Prefabricated fireplaces (essentially a metal fireplace and chimney) are common in popular ski destinations like Killington, Warren, Stowe, and Stratton, Vermont.

After an inspection of this fireplace we found that the flue pipe had warped, the firebrick panels were cracked and broken, and the chimney was in general disrepair. After consulting with the homeowner, we agreed that the only safe option was to replace the entire system.

This was a tricky project, because we had to modify the 4” stone façade in front of the fireplace in order to remove the old unit and install a new one. The result was a beautiful, functional fireplace. Now the homeowners can warm up in front of a nice fire after a chilly day on the slopes.
